The Divine Comedy - Perfect Lovesong (Perfect Lovebirds Remix)

A Superb remix found on the DVD single of Perfect Lovesong.
Not at all what you'd expect from The Divine Comedy, this is a wonderful remix.
A nice tune for Valentine's.

Remixed By Skinny Puppy

Queen - Another One Bites The Dust (The Cevin Key Alternative Mix)

Remixed by Cevin Key, one of the main creative forces behind Skinny Puppy. A very interesting take on the Queen classic with a wonderful 'Puppy' feel to it.

David Bowie - The Hearts Filthy Lesson (Alt. Mix By Cevin Key And Trent Reznor)

Remixed by Cevin Key and Nine Inch Nails 'Trent Reznor'.

Hilt - Stoneman (Extended)

Rare remix from great Skinny Puppy side project.

Soft Cell - Tainted.....By Love

Say Hello Wave Goodbye (Almighty Full Mix)

Fantastic remix by Almighty from circa 2002.
This track still sounds great and is often forgotten in favour of Tainted Love, but is surely it's equal.

Tainted Love (Cell Out) - Megamix by Paul Dakeyne for DMC 1986

A glorious mish mash of samples and stuff.......remember it was 1986 when this was crafted and Paul Dakeyne was a master of these 'all kinda crazy' remixes megamixes. This version is the official remastered version produced by DMC in 2007.

Tainted Love (Dakeyne 2006 Remix)

Paul Dakeyne's second go at remixing this classic track for DMC is hardly a patch on his previous attempt, but is still a great version.

More Dakeyne remixes coming shortly.

Lassigue Bendthaus - Matter

Fantastic European Electronic music from the early 1990's, I purchased this having heard 'Automotive' in London's Sister Ray record shop just before launching into the world of Zoth Omog. (Much more on that soon !) I've thrown in the Razormaid remix of Static in as well, just for good measure.

Hope you enjoy !

An interesting foursome.......

DJ Krush & Toshinori Kondo - Toh-Sui (From the album 'Krukok')

http://sharebee.com/457fcdf0

Brilliant Japanese Hip Hop from DJ Krush, who never seems to put a foot wrong. A contemporary of fellow Mo Wax artist DJ Shadow, Krush's work tends to have a wonderful jazzy vibe, here accentuated by the accompaniment of Toshinori Kondo.

Battles - Atlas (From the album 'Mirrored')

http://sharebee.com/6a462a9d

I discovered Battles after seeing them on 'Later With Jools Holland' (a cool music show hosted by the ex-Squeeze man). They performed Atlas live and it just blew me away. The studio recording is not as good as the live performance, but this track is still a fantastic achievement.

LFO - Freak (From the album 'Sheath')

http://sharebee.com/fa55b0c1

I already loved LFO for their brilliant self titled single way back in the day, but this track is a whole different beast. There's an amazing video to accompany it that's well worth searching out.

Vision - Lucifer's Friend

http://sharebee.com/824ab0b7

Great synth pop track from 1982 that's rarely mentioned these days. I first heard it as a kid, but still think it sounds very fresh today. It's a shame that Vision didn't do anything else half as decent......but at least this is brilliant !
Whilst this is the original track, it appears here in a 'remastered' form, having been touched up for maximum sound quality by Tinderbox.

Industrial Sounds

Recommended that you play these VERY loud.

Frontline Assembly - Mindphaser (Extended)

Taken from the album Tactical Neural Implant.

http://sharebee.com/7bb242f3

Skinny Puppy - Pro-Test

Taken from the album The Greater Wrong Of Right.
There would be no Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson were it not for the wonderful influence of Skinny Puppy. A future post will illustrate more about this amazing Canadian group.

http://sharebee.com/7b964b86

Front 242 - Body To Body (1988 Mix)

The '88 remix is much more powerful than the original that featured on Geography. (This was released on an album entitled 'Electronic Body Music' that featured, amongst others, The Weathermen, Chris & Cosey & Skinny Puppy)

http://sharebee.com/95999e93

KMFDM - Headcase

Taken from the album Tohuvabohu.

The B-52's - Whammy

A wonderful album that will be a revelation to those who are only familiar with singles like 'Roam' and that bloody awful 'Flintstones' theme song........
Whammy Kiss is a fantastic song, guaranteed to lift the dullest of moods, but the whole album is really worth downloading and having a listen to.

Freezepop - Forever

Synth pop.......Yummy !

If you've yet to discover the joy of Freezepop then you are in for a treat !

From the Discogs listing - http://www.discogs.com/artist/Freezepop
'Freezepop is a synthpop band from Boston, Massachusetts founded in 1999. The lineup includes Liz Enthusiam (Jussi Gamache) on vocals, The Other Sean T. Drinkwater on backing vocals, synths, and vocoder, and The Duke of Pannekoenen (Kasson Crooker) on programming. Freezepop's song Science Genius Girl was featured in the PlayStation 2 game Frequency and their song Super-Sprøde was featured in the game's sequel, Amplitude.
Freezepop won Best New Band in 2001 at the American Synthpop Awards and Best US Band in 2002.'

With electronics reminiscent of Speak And Spell era Depeche Mode and a wickedly dry sense of humour, Freezepop are a must for any fan of electronic music.

My personal favourites from this album, released in 2000, are the wonderfully dreamy 'Tennis Boyfriend', a track which lulls you into a false sense of calm before making you want to swing your pants with a quirky chorus section and final track 'Freezepop Forever'.
However, the whole album is great.
It's also worth checking out their videos on You Tube......and there most recent album Futurefuturefutureperfect is just divine !

Classic #1: Yazoo - Live At The BBC

This live concert was recorded at London's Dominion Theatre by The BBC as part of Yazoo's one and only 'Guided Tour' of 1982.
I'm not really a fan of live recordings, even when I really love the artists, but this is such a fantastic collection of songs (essentially the whole of Upstairs At Eric's +) that I have to recommended it. The sound quality is superb and you also get the added fun of the duo performing a 12'' version of Situation live......
This is the recording as featured on the original BBC Transcription disc (15 tracks plus an introduction by Richard Skinner). Thanks to CDpetee @ Born Again '80's for the extra info and the original rip.

This really is an essential additon to any fans collection !

New Order - Enigma

Another one of those groups who have inspired so many other people to create such wonderful music. I first got into New Order through a desperation to hear Blue Monday. I'd bought a 'Smash Hits' sticker album as a kid and bizarre as it sounds I'd never heard the track, despite it being 1987...... In the sticker album there was a space for New Order and whatever it said there made me want to rush out and buy it. I finally managed to get a copy in a Falmouth music shop and I was simply blown away. I immediately set about purchasing as many NO 12"s as I could....only to have Substance released a couple of weeks later. Still, this is an essential album. A great starting point for any new fan. Through this I was able to explore Joy Division, a group I may not have discovered for sometime despite my interest in The Cure and I felt really cool listening to New Order whilst all of my friends either threw themselves around to Def Leppard or Stock, Aiken and Waterman pop pap.

Here for your delight is an album of New Order remixes, featuring 2 that have never been published before.

New Order - Enigma

01 Spooky (Tinderbox Radio Re-Edit)
02 World In Motion (The Beautiful Remix)
03 Vanishing Point (Tinderbox Extended Re-Edit)
04 Blue Monday (Celebration 04 Mix)
05 Jetstream (Rainy Day Dub)
06 Spooky (Tinderbox Fluke Variation)
07 Fine Time (You Look Great When I'm Fucked Up Mix)

Kraftwerk - Machina Speculatrix

Without a doubt the world of music would be a very different place were it not for the genius of Kraftwerk. Their electronic sound was unique back in the 1970's, even catching the ear of David Bowie who at one stage wanted them as his backing band and they've inspired many people over the past 35 or so years.
My earliest memory of them was hearing The Model at a disco in 1981. I was 8 years old and it was played after Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell......even then I can remember thinking 'WOW' and I remain a fan to this day.
Recommended listening: The Man Machine, Electric Cafe and The Mix, although purists will scream and stamp their little feet saying Autobahn or Trans Euro Express.......

This remix album, Machina Speculatrix, features 1 exclusive in Home Computer (Disc Error Mix) which has never been posted before.

01 Computer Love (The3rdMan Mix)
02 Metal Abzug Metal (A dxl Mash Mix)
03 Tour De France (Abstract Reality Version)
04 Home Computer (Disc Error Remix)
05 Music Non Stop (Mazikeen Mix)
06 The Hall Of Mirrors (Walk Of The Dead Mix)
07 From Dusseldorf With Love - A dxl Mix

A good day to begin......

I'll be posting up a mixture of contemporary music and rare remixes, including some that I've done myself and it's my intention to share artists that I think should have a little more attention. There will be big artists as well, but isn't it nice to 'discover' something new and sit back and listen with a smile on your face, wondering how you managed to miss it first time around ?

It might not be the most visually amazing blog you'll ever see, but I hope it'll still be something special and I guarantee regular updates.
Thanks for visiting.
